Ryde Interchange - Architects drawings

Architects drawings

The Ryde interchange project is complex – set against the magnificent seafront of Ryde in a conservation site and adjacent to a site of special scientific interest, the new transport interchange will form a gateway to the Isle of Wight.

Twelve forms of transport converge on the site in the centre of Ryde with an estimated patronage of over 2 million passengers.

The project has evolved over a number of years and a successful bid was made for funding the project from the Department of Transport in 2002, for five and half million pounds.

After a design competition was run in December 2004, award winning architects Marks Barfield Associates were appointed to design the building.

Planning permission was granted by an overwhelming majority in November 2005 and detailed design has subsequently progressed.

The project will now be tendered to find the most appropriate contractor to deliver the building.

It is anticipated to be on site in early 2008 with an opening date some twelve months later.

Below are architects visuals and plans of how the Interchange will look.
