Journeys in Light - Ryde Interchange Sculpture Proposals Peter Freeman - 2006

For the Ryde Interchange project I am inspired by the unique location of the interchange at the intersection of land, sea, people and transport and have tried to envisage light art interventions that reflect and respond to the changes and movements of transport, people and environment.

The two main proposals are for colour changing lighting of the main columns in the interchange and a free standing 'Lightwave' sculpture to be located on the paved area between the interchange and the pier approach road.

There are alternate variations for both the column lighting and 'Lightwave'. I have allowed a budget of 30K for the column lighting and a budget of 60K for the sculpture.

There are two additional alternative proposals, 'Roofline Beacons' and 'Light Seating'.
